Beginning with the 1956 war and ending with the Al Aqsa Intifada of 2000, Dr. Jenab Tutunji provides a historical examination of events that looks at Israel’s justifications for war that have impeded peace in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
This short documentary by the Palestinian human rights group Al-Haq focuses on the life of a family in al-Hadidiya, a Bedouin community in the northern Jordan Valley. Titled Sumoud – Arabic for steadfastness – it is named after the youngest daughter of the Bisharat family, which has resided in the same occupied West Bank community for generations.

It is the intention of this conference to underscore the reality we are facing by: first, examining and illuminating current Palestinian existence in historic Palestine; second, by truthfully and candidly pursuing the historical process of the Judaization of the country; and third, by exploring the roles available to people seeking justice for the Palestinian people.
The Middle East is vital to global stability and crucial to U.S. interests. Palestine, Israel, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon and Syria have emerged as a centerpiece of American foreign policy, influencing how the United States is viewed in the region and around the world. Because of the gravity of conditions in the region, specifically in the mentioned countries and their vital importance, in similar ways or in their own unique way, the United States is facing one of its most difficult and significant international challenges in decades. With most events in the region having been set in motion by American decisions and actions, the United States has both a national and a moral interest to change course.
Until the 1950s and 1960s hand-crafted silver jewelry and beautifully embroidered costumes were widely worn in Bilad al-Sham, an area that included Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine and Syria. Now, for the first time, splendid examples of these pieces can be seen at the Jerusalem Fund Gallery. Ellen Benson and Lynn Springer of the Bead Museum organized the exhibit; the items are largely drawn from the David and Marjorie Ransom collection.
Through educational events, humanitarian support, and cultural preservation, the Jerusalem Fund is helping build the movement for Palestinian liberation.
