The late Palestinian scholar, Edward Said, remarked that Palestinians had been denied permission to narrate their history and speak of the day-to-day experiences of life in the margins. Here, we reclaim that permission to narrate our own stories.

The Palestinian Nakba: From Ethnic Cleansing in 1948 to Apartheid in 2021

Dr. Shafeeq Ghabra will discuss the history of the Nakba and what it means to Palestinians. During his presentation he will answer some major questions on the establishment of Israel, the forced ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian population, stories about the land, and refugees. He will conclude with an analysis of the present situation in Palestine as a case of ongoing and deepening ethnic cleansing and apartheid. This event will be moderated by Said Arikat.

Abbas’s Palestinian election theatre

On Monday, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas addressed the Fatah Central Committee in Ramallah about the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) elections planned for next month.

He declared that Jerusalem is a “red line” and that elections could not be held if Israel prevented Palestinian residents from participating. All indications are that those elections – the first in 15 years – will be postponed, likely indefinitely.

A Jewish Case for Equality in Israel-Palestine
