Mohamed Jabaly spent the summer of 2014 working with an ambulance crew before and during “Operation Protective Edge”. While numerous articles and media stories are published on the recurring violence in Gaza, they are most often from a privileged outsider perspective. Jabaly’s film is unique in presenting events from a point of view that hails from the ground.
In this film, independent journalists Max Blumenthal and Dan Cohen capture the assault on Gaza during the 2014 war and chronicle its horrific aftermath. Besides documenting Palestinian resilience and suffering, Killing Gaza also documents the war crimes committed by the Israeli military through direct testimony and evidence from the survivors, delivered often just days after escaping indiscriminate shelling, bombings and summary executions.
This panel features remarks by Ambassador Feda Abdelhady-Nasser, Dr. Lawrence Davidson, and Dr. Sara Roy who respectively share their thoughts on the status of Jerusalem, the effectiveness of BDS, and the current situation in Gaza.

Gaza in Context challenges squarely the U.S. and Israeli dominant narrative. By including Palestinian narratives, it counters the perception of Israeli victimization in the American educational system; therefore, the project is a crucial academic project that contextualizes Israel’s involvement in Gaza and situates Israel’s continuous aggression and siege within its broader settler-colonial ambitions. The project as a whole attempts to shift the discussion of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in American classrooms away from Israeli hasbara and to nuance discourse on Palestine as an entity under Israeli military occupation.
Through educational events, humanitarian support, and cultural preservation, the Jerusalem Fund is helping build the movement for Palestinian liberation.
