(Sept 14) “The 1936-39 Revolution in Palestine” By Ghassan Kanafani – Virtual Book Talk

The Jerusalem Fund and Palestine Center cordially invite you to a book talk celebrating the release of a new translation of Ghassan Kanafani’s “The Revolution of 1936-1939 in Palestine: Background, Details, and Analysis.” Translated by Hazem Jamjoum and introduced by Layan Sima Fuleihan, with a foreword by Maher Charif, this publication highlights one of Kanafani’s seminal political works.

Within its pages, Kanafani provides a comprehensive analysis of the mass uprisings against Zionism and the pursuit of independence from British colonialism in Palestine from 1936 to 1939.

Join us for a conversation with Layan Fuleihan and Hazem Jamjoum as they explore the significance of Kanafani’s text. They will discuss his approach in examining the myriad factors—economic, political, social, and cultural—that both fueled and limited the anti-colonial movement in Palestine in the late 1930s. Additionally, they will shed light on the theoretical and political insights that Palestinians and their supporters can derive from Kanafani’s study of this pivotal era in Palestine’s pre-1948 history.

Cosponsoring this event is the Palestinian Youth Movement – DMV Chapter.

Registration is required to attend this virtual event.

When: Thursday, Sept 14 @ 12pm ET
