It’s Bananas

In a recent article, The Washington Post reported on the story of Jaseer Afyet, a Palestinian banana farmer in Al-Auja, which is a town north of Jericho in the West Bank.

Owing to the low elevation, heat, humidity, and high oxygen levels in the Jordan River Valley, Jericho’s bananas are prized for their sweetness and rich flavor and were popular in markets throughout the Middle East.

Normalization at the Expense of Palestinians

On August 13, 2020, Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) agreed to normalize relations between their two countries, with the assistance of the United States. In return, Israel agreed to temporarily “suspend” or “delay” its plans to annex the Palestinian West Bank. The only thing historic about this agreement is that it is now official. In reality, Israel and the UAE have been cooperating and normalizing relations under the table for many years.

Double Standards of the Dishonest Brokers

On May 28, China’s parliament passed a national security law for Hong Kong that China claims will confront “secession, subversion, terrorism, and foreign interference.” Shortly after China passed the law on Hong Kong, the US, UK, Canada, and Australia issued a joint statement condemning it. But where is their condemnation and “deep concern” when it comes to Israel’s oppression of Palestinians?
