(May 11) Dispatches from the Homeland: A Conversation with Fayrouz Sharqawi  

The Palestine Center cordially invites you to join us for an event featuring guest speaker Fayrouz Sharqawi, a renowned Palestinian activist and co-founder and former director of Grassroots Al-Quds. This exclusive event offers you a unique opportunity to gain insight into the reality in Palestine, with a particular focus on Jerusalem.

Fayrouz will delve into the Palestinian Unity Uprising of May 2021, which marked a new chapter in the Palestinian struggle for liberation. She will discuss the unwavering determination of Palestinians in their homeland and in the diaspora as they confront Israel’s oppressive regime. From Sheikh Jarrah to Gaza, and from Masafer Yatta to Huwara, Fayrouz will shed light on the challenges Palestinians face and the ways they overcome fragmentation, isolation, and Israel’s relentless attacks on their lives and dignity.

Central to this ongoing struggle is the city of Jerusalem, where Palestinians endure immense pressure from the Israeli regime. Fayrouz will emphasize Jerusalem’s critical role as a battleground for Palestinian perseverance against erasure.

The event will be moderated by Executive Director Jehad Abusalim.

With her experience as the co-founder and former director at Grassroots Al-Quds, she offers valuable analysis and insight on the situation in Palestinian, with a focus on Jerusalem. Fayrouz also shares her perspectives through occasional writings on these issues. She remains committed to supporting the advancement of Palestinian rights through her work.

Fayrouz Sharqawi’s US tour provides a unique opportunity for her to speak about the current political reality that Palestinians face in Jerusalem and the broader situation in Palestine. This tour comes at a crucial moment, as it is essential for Palestinians to share accurate news and information about the situation on the ground, challenging the disinformation and bias prevalent in US media reporting on Palestine. 

Fayrouz will be speaking in various cities, including NYC, DC, the Bay area, and San Diego, and will be hosted by organizations such as Adalah Justice Project, The Center for Constitutional Rights, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Palestinian Youth Movement, The Black Workers and Wellness Center, Karama Now, and others.
