Environmental Prejudice in the Occupied Palestinian Territory

PREMIERE URGENCE INTERNATIONALE (PUI) ) is an international humanitarian organization that strives to ensure the respect and protection of human rights of people affected by humanitarian crises worldwide. In the Occupied Palestinian Territory, due to the protracted illegal occupation and continued use of force by the State of Israel on Palestinian Civilian populations, the socio-economic wellbeing of Palestinians both in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and the Gaza strip is rampantly deteriorating. In this context, Première Urgence Internationale’s interventions are based on humanitarian principles enshrined in the international humanitarian law, and the international human rights law.

Anthony Dutemple is the Head of Mission for Premiere Urgence Internationale (PUI) in the occupied Palestinian territory. He holds a M.A. in International Relations and has 12-year professional experience in emergency contexts or responding to protracted crisis. Throughout his career, Anthony has performed comprehensive needs assessments and built integrated program responses.

He has been responsible for supporting multi-sectoral programme with strong protection integration, and has developed trainings and awareness raising sessions on minimum protection standards and protection mainstreaming. He has experiences in strengthening people-led development, working with local organizations and communities. He currently leads PUI strategy aiming at reducing vulnerabilities and enhancing self-protection capacities of Palestinians affected by the coercive environment through an integrated and cross-sectorial protection approach.

Abbud Al-Shareef, West Bank Field Coordinator for Premiere Urgence Internationale (PUI). Abbud holds a BA degree in Architectural Engineering from An-Najah University and a Master degree in Social Work from McGill University. He has been working for PUI since September 2018 managing a team of sixteen humanitarian workers operating from Nablus and Ramallah bases to address Humanitarian needs across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem in the field of Food security, Shelter, WASH and Protection. 

Hazem AlMadhoun is currently working as FSL projects manager for Premiere Urgence Internationale (PUI) in Gaza. A humanitarian aid worker with a 10-year experience in humanitarian projects management, with 7 years specifically in projects Monitoring and Evaluation.  He holds a master degree in project management from Universiti Sains Malaysia, a bachelor degree in civil engineering from Islamic University of Gaza, as well as professional accredited certificates in Cash & Voucher Assistance (CVA) and Monitoring Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL). He currently leads the implementation of several projects in the field of Emergency Response & Food security in the Gaza Strip.
