Dr. Susan Power (BCL, National University of Ireland, Galway, PhD, Trinity College Dublin) has been Head of Legal Research and Advocacy at Al-Haq, Law in the Service of Man since 2018. Prior to this, she lectured law for seven years in Griffith College Cork and Dublin, Ireland between 2010 and 2017. Dr. Power’s primary research areas include business and human rights, laws of armed conflict and international criminal law. Dr. Power has worked on the Control of Economic Activities in Occupied Territories Bill (Ireland 2018) and De Facto Annexation Motion (Ireland, 2021), submitted communications and presented to the International Law Commission on the Draft Principles on the Protection of the Environment in Relation to Armed Conflicts, and has worked on communications and amicus curiae submissions to the International Criminal Court.
Her advocacy work includes, inter alia, interventions on the Zero Draft Treaty for an Internationally Binding Treaty on Business and Human Rights, formal presentations to the Catalan and Irish parliaments, official Palestinian side events to the Assembly of States Parties and UN Forum on Business and Human Rights and statements to the EU Council Working Party on the ICC on violations of international law in the occupied Palestinian territory. She has published academic articles in the Journal of Conflict and Security Law, Irish Yearbook of International Law and the Irish Journal of European Law, writing on issues of occupation law, amongst others and has been a Committee member and judge on the Irish Red Cross International Humanitarian Law Moot Court, Corn Adomnáin.
Said Arikat is a Member of the Palestine Center Committee, and a long time writer and analyst for the Palestinian newspaper al-Quds. He previously served as spokesman and director of public information for the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq, and currently teaches as an adjunct professor at American University in Washington, DC.
