MK Ayman Odeh has served as Secretary General of the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality (Hadash) political party since 2006. As leader of the Joint List—an alliance of four predominantly Palestinian parties—he represents Israel’s Arab Palestinian citizens. He currently serves on the Knesset House Committee and the Knesset Committee on Labor, Welfare, and Health, and is chairman of the Cultural Affairs Caucus.

Ayman Odeh was born and raised in Haifa. At the age of 23, he was elected to represent Hadash on the Haifa City Council, where he served for five years, from 1998 to 2003. A lifelong advocate for equality and civil rights, MK Odeh worked as a project director for Sikkuy, the Association for the Advancement of Civic Equality, from 2003 to 2006. He is also a member of the board of the Mahmoud Darwish Foundation and is a former board member of Al-Midan Theater. He holds a law degree from Mihai Eminescu University and passed the Israeli bar in 2001
